Happy Flowers

Ryan surprised me last week while I was sick with some flowers to cheer me up.  He called them my "happy flowers"!  And although they aren't my favorite favorite kind---they have been bright and happy and have lived for over a week now all throughout my house (a vase of them in each room!)---
They have done their job well!

Tell me you didn't smile when you saw them?!! :)
Hope they brightened your day like they do mine!

Hawaiian Quilt

Last September I went up to my Grandma's house to stay with her for a week while my Dad and Papa went on a 10-day trip up to Canada.  While Kamryn and I were there, Grandma and I decided to make a quilt out of the hawaiian fabrics she had just "laying around".  After about 3 days of work, we had a gorgeous quilt top!

Then this past February I FINALLY got sick of it just sitting in my apartment unquilted.  So I took it over to a family friend and asked her to quilt it for me.  She was very willing and gave me a "family discount" on it too--so it was even better!  She called me this past Saturday and told me it was finished!  I was so excited!

Here it is all quilted!
I told her my favorite thing out of all the Hawaiian fabrics are the Hibiscus Flowers--so she found a pattern for me and quilted it into it!  It's just so darling, I love it! :)
The back I chose for the quilt is a soft fabric with surfing monkeys, hibiscus flowers, and "Aloha" all over it!  It isn't as elegant as the front ... but it is super cuddly and cute!  And very Hawaiian! (to me) :)
Saturday night I was so excited about it that I wanted to show someone.  I took it to my mom's house to show her and she offered to help me bind it right there!  I'm SOOOO glad I did!  (even though it took a lot longer than I thought it would and I was reminded again why sewing projects aren't always my thing!  I have no patience for it!) :) haha
So, Saturday night, I had a finished product!! :)

I look at this quilt and I just can't help but smile! :)  It is so colorful, so bright, so Hawaiian, matches my room...just so me! :)  I have slept with it the past couple of nights and just can't get enough of it! :)  Thank you Grandma, for helping me put it together!  I'll love it always!  (I wish Grandma had internet so she could read and see this post...guess I'll have to just send up the pictures!) :)

New Hair

Last Friday I had a really rough morning... Kamryn had been sick all week, nothing to really blog about (lol), my hair was driving me crazy, and pregnancy was just getting the best of me! Ryan was really supportive and tried to help me feel better, but I decided that I needed to go do something with this mess!! :

After 4 hours at a hair school (cheaper that way and they could get me in THAT AFTERNOON), here's the end result!

I love the color (although it took FOREVER!!) but she cut my bangs too short...I'm not so sure about them. Plus, after cutting them too short, I think I scared her away a little bit and she didn't check to see that they weren't cut crooked! Oops!! I could've done that MYSELF! :) lol It's okay...I think I'm going to go down tomorrow to my friend's house and have her fix them up. You can't really tell it's crooked when they are curled and done.

Anyway, this "new do" is just what I needed to get me through the last few weeks of pregnancy! (Isn't it amazing what a little pampering does for your spirits?!!) :)

Family development!

Just a quick update...

Kamryn is feeling well! chipper! Independent. Brand new self practically!

Ryan has had a little bit of congestion and body aches, but he is okay. He can sleep at night.

I have had a rough 5 days or so! I threw my cousin a baby shower on Friday night (post on that to come soon, hopefully!) and then Saturday morning woke up feeling awful! Congestion in head and chest, awful hacking cough, and headaches. And now, after 5 days of coughing, I am so so so sore! My muscles all along the bottom of my ribcage are so sore! It's not fun to be pregnant and have a horrible cough that you're not sure when it will go away! :( However, Ryan took the day off for me today and I slept in till 1pm and then hopefully I will go to sleep for the night soon too! (It's only 7:30 but I'm pooped!) :) I'm hoping all this sleep will help me recover quickly! (Tylenol cold is my best friend right now!) :)

Kyler is growing and kicking more and more... especially with all this coughing! I can't imagine what it feels like to him! :)

Funny moment--I looked at my ticker for days till he arrives today and it says
"18 inches, 5lbs and gaining. Soon to be head down and making mom walk funny"

I laughed because I know from my Dr. appointment that his head has been down for over a week or so now...AND I feel like I've been walking funny for like a month now! :) So...does that mean I'm gonna be walking even funnier now?!?! :) (some informative ticker)! :) Maybe it is just trying to keep me lighthearted about the whole thing by making me laugh! :)

Thank you Baby Ticker! ;)

No friday funny...

The video wouldn't upload both times I tried Friday and Saturday...so I'll have to try again later.

But our house is germ-infested right now... Kamryn has been sick all week...but has been doing better each day. However, now I have it really bad (stuffy nose, awful cough, can't sleep, etc) and Ryan I think is coming down with it! Rough night last night for all 3 of us! What a houseful of sickies!

Post again when I get the chance... :)

Went to the Doctors...and...

Well, we survived yesterday.  Kamryn managed to sleep most of the afternoon yesterday---off and on---with coughs waking her up every 15 minutes or so.  But she was soooo exhausted that she managed to calm down each time fairly quickly.  I went in around 4:15 to wake her up so we could get ready to go to the doctor.  I hate waking her up...especially when she is so so sick!  I rubbed her back and asked if she wanted to get up--her response was "no..." (little whimpering voice and small shake of head) :) I left the room for a minute to put something away and then Kamryn screamed!  It was like, "I don't want to get up...but I want you here!!" Funny girl.  We got her up, bathed her and then left for the doctor.

On our way to the doctors---we weren't in the car more than 5 minutes and I looked back and saw her just struggling and struggling to keep her eyes open... poor thing!
It just breaks your heart, doesn't it?!

We got to the Doctor and ended up waiting in the waiting room for 40 minutes!! Ahhh....she's hacking up a lung every 5 minutes and they can't get us back faster?!?  I was a little annnoyed...but oh well.  Kamryn practically fell asleep on my lap while we were waiting! (note*LOVE our Pediatrician...but he is always always sooo busy and behind!)

Went in and it was probably the best appointment we've ever had...partly because she had no energy to scream and fight with.  (oh and btw she has gained 2 lbs in the past month! lol) He diagnosed her with a possible croup virus and a secondary ear infection.  So we gave her the croup shot and she is now on antibiotics for her ear.  Poor thing!  I'm glad we got meds though.  Hopefully this will all go away faster now!

Last night was a little better than the night before...but she had a harder time actually going to bed in the first place.  Couldn't convince her to sleep till about 11...when WE were going to bed!  BUT her fever broke last night!  I was so relieved to not feel her burning hot anymore! (At the Dr. office she was up to 103 degree temp.) Thank goodness that is gone!

I think Ryan got up with her a few times through the night...what a good daddy!

This morning I had my 32 week Dr. Appointment around 10:30.  Kamryn was so so miserable this morning.  She cried and cried and cried when I had to give her to Ryan so I could get ready to go!  She didn't want to watch anything, eat anything or play with anything...just wanted her Mommy!  Then when she saw I was actually trying to GO somewhere, she totally flipped!  It was so hard to resist just staying home and being with her---to hold and cuddle and comfort---with those puffy droopy eyes...but I quickly left her with Daddy and went to my appointment.  (Appointment went well...baby is healthy and getting bigger...only 8 weeks left! Can't believe it!) :)  While at the Dr., Ryan called me and said that Kamryn wanted to call me.  (she had picked up his phone and started trying to talk on it.  Ryan asked her if she wanted to call mommy and she said "yes") She didn't really talk on the phone, but I'm glad she liked it!  I thought it was cute!
When I got home, she was so excited to see me...but still SO miserable.  blotchy face and puffy eyes and she could barely walk!  We sat down in the chair to snuggle, ate some lunch and then Daddy left for work. (Who she happily waved and said "bye bye" to... :)  poor Daddy!) :)

After a difficult morning...she is finally down for a nap now...and hopefully she will be able to sleep.  I think she's having a rougher time this afternoon than she did yesterday---even with the fever gone!

Thanks for all your support and comments.  We really are doing okay...it's tiring, but I feel worse for her!  It's never fun to see your child miserable and there isn't much you can do!  I'm so grateful for current medicine and technology though...because if I had to do this 100 years ago, it'd be SO much worse! :)
