Home makeover and Friday Funny!

2 Friday funnies:
Kamryn has been climbing lots more lately and can now get on every chair in the house. (luckily our bed is still too high!) :)  The other day I was in my room doing something and heard her kinda "huffing and puffing" and working very hard at something.  I went into the office and found her like this:

Uh-oh! I'm caught! :)  (We've never seen her climb up to USE the computer!  But she was anxiously typing and then using the mouse and pointing to the screen, then back to typing!) :0)  Wonder where she learned all that?! :)

#2: Kamryn hates to have her fingernails cut and her toenails are even worse.  But Ryan was in the bathroom the other day, cutting his toenails, and Kamryn went in, watched him for a minute, and then sat down and stuck her foot in his face!  Kinda cute!  Wanting to be just like Daddy!
So...we had a nail cutting party on the bathroom floor!

Ok...and now...the makeover of our house! (This all happened today! I'm so excited about it!)

Last week we ordered a new crib, got a crib mattress and then ordered baby bedding for our little boy.  We decided to get a convertible crib for Kamryn (turns into a toddler bed) and then pass the other crib down to baby brother.
Well, yesterday the crib came!  I was so excited...but Ryan had to work all day and wasn't around to put it together. (Let's be real...with my tummy, I'm not going to be able to do it!)  so...I had to wait with that huge box in my living room ALL day yesterday! :)  Lucky for me, however, Ryan's day off every week is Fridays!  So we had time this morning!

PROJECT ONE: move old crib from Kamryn's room into other bedroom.
1. This crib is already Duct Taped in some places because of past moves, so it isn't real easy to take apart.  So, we were hoping it would just fit through Kamryn's door.  Unfortunately--Nope.  BUT it did fit through without the door. So Ryan took off the door and we got it to the hallway. Success!
2. Moving the crib from the hallway into the other bedroom: uh-oh!  Even with the door off, the crib isn't fitting into the room...  We got out a tape measure and sure enough, our door frame to the 2nd room is 2 inches smaller than Kamryn's door!!  What is that?!!!  I cannot get over who designed this apartment... but they obviously weren't really into being consistent!! :)  So...unfortunately...we had to take apart part of the crib anyway!  When that's what we were trying so hard to avoid!! Dang!
3. After much struggle and frustration...and probably 40 minutes...we got the crib from one room to the other!

CHECK!

PROJECT TWO: Build new crib in Kamryn's room
1. Ryan set out to build the crib and really, it only took 30 minutes to put together!  Pretty simple and he didn't even need my help much!  Although, Kamryn wanted to "help" a lot! :)   So my job was to distract her! 2. Crib is all set up...let Kamryn test it out!  She got in .... and started JUMPING!!  A new trampoline! ;)  As she was jumping, we realized that the mattress was too high for how tall she is.  She was gonna jump right out of that thing!  So...Ryan lowered the bottom springs to the lowest setting, and now it is perfect!
CHECK!

PROJECT THREE: Put doors back on both bedrooms
CHECK!

PROJECT FOUR: Organize Kamryn's room and other room now that both are looking more crowded with more furniture.
1. This didn't take too long...it was actually fun for me.
2. While I was organizing, I asked Ryan to check on the status of our baby bedding being shipped.  I was just curious when I could expect it to be here because now I had an empty crib sitting in the bedroom.  He looked it up and it was out for delivery TODAY! :)  I was so excited!  I found myself checking and re-checking for it on the front porch!  Finally, the doorbell rang! (Picture: waiting for the bedding to come!)
CHECK!

PROJECT FIVE: Decorate with new baby bedding!

I think it turned out pretty well, don't you?!
CHECK

PROJECT SIX: Survive 80 more days before baby boy is here! (maybe decide on a name needs to be included in that time?!!) :)

Try some videos?! :) (again)

I decided to see if I could upload a couple of videos of Kamryn at this age...we'll see if it works! (It wasn't really working the other night!!)

Bathtub:

Spinning: (we decided that this is Kamryn's form of ring-around-the-rosies that they learned in Nursery earlier that day! When we first saw her doing it though, we had NO idea what she was doing!) :)

5 hours later:

Videos didn't work...obviously! I think blogger is trying to switch their posting layouts/settings and won't allow videos anymore. Either that or my internet is just TOO slow to handle it!

Guess I'll have to figure out a different way to post videos. Until then...sorry! :)

At 18 months you...

  • still LOVE to eat!  Some favorite foods are: peas, corn, broccoli, quesidillas, cheese, fruit snacks, strawberries, grapes, oranges, apples, cereal, goldfish crackers, pretzels, and candy!
  •  love to brush your teeth!  I can offer that almost as much as I can offer food to make you happy! (hopefully your first dentist appointment next month won't change that!) :)
  • are okay with changing your diaper!  The past 6 months or so, you would scream every time we needed to change your diaper!  But just in the past week, you've decided that it is okay to get changed.  You will now lay down willingly and even sometimes BRING a diaper to us when we ask you to! (I was VERY surprised the first time I asked you to bring me a diaper and you actually did!  Smart cookie!) :)
  • love babies!  You love any other kid around, but babies are definitely interesting!  (Good thing...since your brother is expected to be here in just 3 short months!) :)

  • are a hugger!  You love to give hugs and kisses to everyone! (although sometimes it takes some encouragement from Mommy and Daddy)
  • still hate to have your finger nails cut! You scream and scream and scream!  I'm always worried I'm going to actually hurt you just trying to hold you down and still to do the job... HOWEVER, I think this little habit is changing....but only if Daddy is the one to do the job!  He has been able to cut your fingernails without any struggle at all TWICE in the past week!

  • have some favorite toys to play with.  These are some of the things that I can guarantee you will play with/touch every day!  Mickey Clubhouse Playset, Nesting cups, Little tikes Ride-in car, Baby doll and bottle, puzzles, and books--especially the Signing time ones and your scriptures.

    •  Love to sit on the couch and watch Mickey mouse, Winnie the Pooh or Meet the Robinsons.

    • Are an easy child when it comes to bedtime.  You usually go to bed around 8:00 every night.  We put on pj's, brush teeth, gather your two favorite blankets and binkie, get a sippy cup of water, say prayers, give kisses, lay you down and then leave.  No screaming usually.  No fight.  Just relaxed and easy!  We love it!  (you even will walk to your crib willingly sometimes if you are REALLY tired!) :)
    •  still have your binkies.  I keep thinking that we should try to wean you from them, but being pregnant and having another one so soon, I don't think it is going to happen for a while.  But I'm not worried because you talk and you don't mind when I take them away from you during the day!  And I will admit that I'm SURE that is part of the reason that bedtime is so easy! :)
    • don't speak much English yet...however, we have ways of communicating with you.  You pick up new signs all of the time, and I know that you understand almost everything we say to you...so talking will come in time!  You do still have your own language of jibberish...and sometimes I wish I could understand exactly what you are saying!  Because you sure know that you are saying something! :)  Some words you say and sign are:
      • "Ba"=drink, ball, book
      • "dada"=daddy
      • "bma-ma"=Mama
      • "yes"=yes (with a whole body nod at the same time!)
      • shake head=no
      • "bmoo"=what a cow says
      • Signs:
        • eat, more, please, thank you, wash, hot, dog, sleep
    • went to nursery for your first time!  You went right in to explore new toys.  You kept going back toward the door to play with the toys, but then would go find something else to play with.  I saw you were fine and snuck out for my meetings.  Daddy looked in the window after an hour and saw you sitting on one of the teacher's laps, just watching the other kids. You looked tired, but you weren't crying so we left you with them.  Then Daddy checked on you again during snacktime and you were anxiously engaged in everything that was going on!  (food is always a good bribe for you!) :)  When we came to pick you up after 2 hours, you were crying...but only because you were one of the last kids to be picked up and you just didn't understand why everyone else was leaving and not you!  You love your teacher, Rachel.  And you colored a BEAUTIFUL picture for your first Sunday in Nursery!

    • love music and dancing and singing.  You "lead" and sing every hymn at church (leading with both arms BIG!)  It is very cute! :)  You love to sing and do the actions to "Popcorn popping" and "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and "5 little Monkeys jumping on the bed".  (We have videos...but they can't be posted right now because blogger won't let me!)  You started spinning in circles last night and falling on the floor! We've never seen you do that before--you were so proud of yourself! :)

    • love to take baths!  Especially with Daddy playing with you from the side!  We say "bathtime" and you run to the bathroom and try to get in with your clothes still on! Silly girl!

    • are a little smarty pants!  There isn't a day that goes by that Ryan and I don't laugh or are stunned at what you do!  After just 10 minutes of playing with a difficult shape sorter the other day, you were able to do all the pieces perfectly and consistently!  A little practice makes perfect when you are motivated!
    • have figured out how to use an Ipod touch!  We let you play with it and watch movies on it if you are sitting down (not walking around to break it!--Yikes!)  You are definitely technologically advanced because of your parents' lifestyle! (not sure if it is a good or bad thing, however!) :)
    • are clever.  You know you aren't supposed to get into bathroom cupboards or open up computers...however, when we say no, you will look at us from under your eyebrows and over your shoulder as you are still trying to slowly get into things!  You know how cute you are and try testing your limits often! :)  Luckily for us, you are also easily distractable!
    • are independent...yet a follower.  When it is just you and me at home, you often want to do everything all by yourself! (getting a drink, getting food out, climbing onto a chair, turning on the tv, washing your hands, etc.) however...when there are other kids around, you like to do whatever they are doing.  You like to follow in their lead and play or mess with whatever they are playing or messing! :)
    •  love the banana chairs at Grandma's house!
    • have a little more hair!  It's finally long enough that I can put some clippies in without having to have a headband ALL of the time.  You leave things in your hair pretty well.  (no ponytails yet though)
    • are cautious! I didn't realize this very much until recently, but comparing you to other toddlers around your age...you are very cautious.  You don't touch things that make loud noises (like the blinds to look out the window).  You don't step on toys or books very often (you walked ALL THE WAY AROUND the couch the other day to get where you were going just because there was a pile of toys in the way, blocking the shorter path).  You get "worried" when watching some parts of Meet the Robinsons and Peter Pan! (Peter Pan--she didn't like the dad being upset with the kids at the beginning! :)  Poor girl!)

    • like to help around the house.  You help Daddy vacuum, you help me with laundry and you are excellent at helping with the dishwasher!  You will put your own dishes in your dish drawer and even get the soap out to put it in the dishwasher after it is all loaded.  You like to close the dishwasher and push start.

    • like to go shopping with us!  You love to push the cart and then we steer it.  It is so cute!  You will push it and push it and push it, until you are tired, and then you'll let us put you in the cart with all our stuff until we are done at the store!  Everyone smiles and says hi to you at the store.  Luckily you are friendly back to them as well!

    • love candy! And will cleverly get it!  GG (great grandma) Burdett has a chest of chocolate she keeps in her office for all the Grandkids (and Great-grandkids) to have when they come over.  You quickly discovered where it was kept and will often bring candy to anyone who will open it for you.  One time we found you carrying around the entire chest, asking for candy! :) Silly girl!

    • will wear yourself out every once in a while!  You are such a busy toddler! It seems like you never stop!  However, I manage to catch some moments of rest every once in a while.  The car is one place that is very soothing to you.

    • are a handful, but I wouldn't trade you for anything!  You are very very loved!  And you are the center of our lives right now!   We love you Kamryn!

How did you grow up so fast?

Kamryn is 18 months old today and therefore was able to go to nursery at church for the first time! :) Yay! :) She went right in and started playing, so Ryan and I snuck out. We peeked in the window during 3rd hour of church and she was sitting with one of the teachers just watching the other kids playing. She looked tired (as church is during nap time) but the teachers said she did just fine! I'm so glad that she can be good for other people and that she likes other kids. I think she really enjoyed new toys and snacktime as well! However, when mom and dad came back to get her, she was SO ready to go home! :) Funny Girl!

Tonight she started just spinning in circles...we've never seen her do that before and I wonder if they did it during music time in nursery today! I'll have to ask the music teacher next week... kinda funny if that was where it came from! :) We had to video record it...too cute! :) (as well as some other things she can do these days!)
VIDEO TOOK TOO LONG TO LOAD...I'LL TRY AGAIN TOMORROW!! :(

More to come on 18 month old Kamryn tomorrow! It's bedtime for me now! Good night!

    It's a Playdate!

We had a little playdate today with my friend, Nancy, and her two little girls.  Such sweethearts!  Her oldest is almost 2, and so so smart! And this new little one is almost a month old and just as small as ever!  So sweet!

Kamryn loves to play with both of them!

Today Kamryn just could not stop paying attention to the baby!  She just loved her! She wanted to touch and help and touch and help and touch and help! :)  I'm so excited for when her brother comes!

    Crafty---here I come!

So, lately I have been trying to find more projects to keep me busy ... other than being a full-time mom! :0)  You know...some "Me" time! :) I've been wanting to be more creative...more crafty... Ryan got me a book called "How to be creative if you never thought you could".  I love it!  It has 16 projects to practice with as well as some advice on just going for it! :) SO...with that motivation, I decided it would be fun to make some crafty-type things especially for around our house.  I scrapbook and blog, but I needed something that was Off the computer! ha.  So...I decided to try some toll painting. :)  I went out, bought a few materials, and just started!  Here's what I came up with:

I'm pretty proud of my first project!  No real instruction...just going for it! :)  (Helpful that the wood piece was already cut out and all I had to do was decorate it!) :)

I think it turned out pretty cute!  (And now Kamryn has somewhere to hang her bath towel!)

    27 weeks and "Baby Shrine"

I have hit my 27th week of pregnancy today!  Only 13 left to go...and that means that I am very close to my 3rd trimester!  Wow!  It also menas... PICTURE TIME!

Left is me now (27 weeks with baby boy who is still nameless!) :)

Right is me at 27 weeks with Kamryn

Baby bump...kinda a funny angle since I took it myself, but that's okay!

I have been feeling okay lately...but so big and so ready to be done... I can feel myself getting overly anxious all of the time!  I know in my head that I shouldn't...but sometimes I just can't help it! :)
It has kinda been an emotional roller coaster lately because of the anxiety and because of hormones.  I know that this baby is growing and growing because every once in a while I have a rush of hormones go through me and all I can do is sit down and cry!  Not necessarily because I'm sad or because I'm happy...just because I don't know what else to do!  Poor Ryan has been an awesome help and support through all of this...but men just don't EVER get that way so I know that it hasn't been easy!

    BUT...
to try to put some of my anxiety at ease, we have started our Baby Shrine for our nameless little man...

I have been gathering a few things and buying some stuff every once in a while, just to have out so that I can remember what all this pregnancy stuff is eventually for! :)  But last week, it tripled in size!  I found a great deal on ksl.com for a bunch of higher-brand-name baby boy clothes that someone was selling!  A lot of them, to my excitement, hadn't even been used yet!  Tags on and everything! :)  So I bought them!  Didn't have to think about it for more than a second!

Shoes are from the ksl deal.  I bought the gowns, blankets and boppy cover earlier.

Some favorite clothes I'm so excited for.  The brown pants and shirt are from Old Navy...still have tags on them but only cost me about $1 each! :)  And the Hawaii onesie was a Christmas present from my sister Kylie!

Now I'm on the hunt for a white convertible crib for Kamryn (so it can be a toddler bed for her when she is ready) and then baby boy's room can start to be put together with the crib we already have!  I know I still have 3 months...but I just can't help it! :)  However...with how long it takes for me to make decisions sometimes, I think 3 months is the amount of time I need to get things ready for him! :)

    Friday Funny #2

So life was a little crazy yesterday and I didn't get to actually post ON FRIDAY...but Saturday morning before 12 should still count, right?!?! :)

    My funny for this week:
What do you get when you cross this

    with this

    ??????

    You get this:

Momma always told me not to leave a red sock in my whites...but she never said anything about a red TABLECLOTH (that's already been washed multiple times) with a brand new WHITE TOWEL!!! :)
(I just didn't even think about it...just trying to "get ahead" with daily chores...) :)

    Kamryn's funny this week:
Kamryn wanting to be like daddy.  I was working on the computer and turned around to see this:

Daddy with his new Ipod, Kamryn with Daddy's old Ipod

Let me see what you are doing on yours, Dad!

    Mom has the camera...hmm...

    Ok...I'll play mine again...just like daddy! :)

Christmas At home with Ryan's Family

Kamryn got a Curious George from Uncle Eric

We gave Eric the first Harry Potter Book, in Chinese! He was pretty excited!

Kamryn opening Aunt Sara's gift--a Curious George Book!

From Great Grandma and Grandpa Seamons--to STAY at Grandma Seamons' house.  Kamryn was so excited about opening the box...

but then she looked through the tunnel...

and did NOT want to go in! :) Silly Girl!  She played there with Grandpa on the outside for a long time though!  Then the cat went in the tunnel and we could tell Kamryn thought about following, but decided it wasn't worth it!  Such a cautious little girl!

    A new puzzle from Grandma.

Ryan received some Birthday cards and gifts AS WELL AS Christmas cards and gifts.
(Crazy how that happens when your bday is only 10 days before Christmas, huh?!) :)
Together, we got a bunch of Itunes gift cards, money to Kohls, Money from grandparents, and Kamryn got some ToysRUs money.  Thank you thank you thank you!  We appreciated them all!

Kamryn LOVES the Kitty!  She always goes looking for her when we go to Grandma's house.  Kamryn is showing the Kitty her new book... :)

Kamryn's BIG gift from Grandma and Grandpa was a Little Tikes Ride-in Car!  She was so excited!
    Only problem was...

..it had to still be put together! (oops...bad planning on Mommy and Daddy's part!) :)

Kamryn sat in the frame of the car for a while...but then Daddy needed the pieces...

    So, Grandpa helped distract Kamryn.
(She's watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, one of her favorite shows right now)

    It's DONE!! :)  Yay!
Uncle Eric pushed her and pushed her in that thing till he was too tired to push anymore! :)  Kamryn could've ridden all night long!

    Thank you Grandma and Grandpa!
