Typical happenings at our house this month

This is typical for right before we are going to go somewhere.  I'll get Kamryn ready with shoes and hair done.  I'll get Kyler ready and then lay him down while I grab the last few things for the diaper bag and my shoes.  Although, a few weeks ago, after I had gotten myself ready, I found this in my room:
Kamryn on the Ipod--leaning on the Diaper bag.  Kyler dead asleep.

Funny kids!
Kamryn's FAVORITE pasttime lately is playing with water.  Whether it be in the bathtub, at my bathroom sink, or on the floor sitting on a bathtowel.  She will find her cups, her teaset, ANYTHING that she can pour water into!  And needless to say...she is an expert at making a mess! :)
But look at that face!

Kyler is getting bigger and bigger and bigger.  His 2 month appointment he was almost 12 pounds. I'm positive he is over 15 now! (Half Kamryn's weight!)  He is becoming quite the chunky--but very happy--baby!
 He still loves the Bumbo!

We got out the exersaucer a couple weeks ago.  At first he wasn't so sure and his feet didn't really quite reach far enough.  But now--just 2 weeks later--he is standing up strong and reaching for the toys and loving it! :) Can't believe he is growing so quickly!

We all got sick the 2nd weekend in August.  So...naturally...we all sat around and watched movies (with popcorn of course) a lot of the weekend.  It's so fun to have family time on our bed! I love it.  I hope it continues in the future. (Maybe not just when we are sick though!) :)

Now, this isn't really typical, but it meant so much to me that I HAVE to blog about it! :)
Kyler is not -- never has been -- a cuddler.  But just this once, I was holding him and he was EXHAUSTED...so he layed is head on my shoulder and cuddled up to me.  It was so precious.  I quickly and quietly had Ryan capture the moment for me to always remember it.  Babies are SUPPOSED to cuddle...but mine is ready to move and get going all of the time.  So I'll take any cuddling I can get.

Kamryn Birthday part 3!

Yes...one month later I'm finishing up Kamryn's bday posts!  :)  BUT...I had to post about this because it is just so cute! :)  All 4 of us got sick a couple weekends ago (Thanks Krista!) :) and because of it we missed the Burdett family party for the summer birthdays.  So the next time we went to my parents, Kamryn got to open her 2 gifts from 2 of my Aunts.  She LOVES them!
One was the cutest little puppy stuffed animal.  We named her Zoe.  Kamryn likes feeding her (with a spoon!) :)

Here Krista! YOU try the dog food! :)

Don't you love how she is carrying the puppy down the stairs!?! :)  Too cute on a little girl!
The other gift was where she got the spoon.  It was a set of Tinkerbell and fairies dishes.  Kamryn was very excited because she LOVES Tinkerbell.  She doesn't really know all the other fairy friends yet, but I'm sure she will sooner than we expect!

Thanks for all the fun gifts!  I'm so sorry we didn't make it to the party so you could see her open them, but know that she loved them! :)

Happy Birthday Kamryn!

For Kamryn's Birthday this year, we had a family party 2 weeks before her actual birthday so that Kylie could be there.  (My sister who lives in Hawaii).  Then on her actual birthday we had a bbq with some extended family, so I bought her a balloon and we stuck a candle in her ice cream and sang to her...but didn't do much.  Then, my friend Nicole (whose bday is around Kamryn's bday) was asking around different places for free bday stuff. She told me that Baskin Robbins will give you a free scoop on your bday if you join the bday club. So, I signed everyone in our family up.  And because Kamryn's bday was just the week before, I instantly got a coupon for her but it expired the next day!!  SO...the next morning we went to the Doctor (her 2 year appointment) and then we went out for ice cream!  Not bad, huh?! :)

2 year old stats:
Height: 34 7/8 inches (67th percentile)
Weight: 30 lbs. 10 oz. (89th percentile)
Head size: 50 cm (98th percentile)

Big girl!

She wasn't so thrilled about the Doctor.  Ryan has always helped me with Dr. appointments up till now, but he happened to have a meeting right during the appointment.  So I was on my own with both of them!  But it went well, overall.  I just know from the past 2 years that Kamryn is extremely dramatic and cautious at the doctors...so I expected it and knew how to handle it.  Although, between the 2 kids I changed 3 diapers in that hour we were there!  Fun! :)
Kamryn got one shot and four stickers and then we were out of there! :)

And onto get our ice cream! :)

Swimming at Grandma's!

Swimming in the new kiddie pool at Grandma's house!  Kamryn LOVES it!

After the first day, she got a little tired of it quickly.  So we decided to invite friend Sydney over the next week to play at Grandma's house in the new pool!  Kamryn LOVED having a playmate!

Hopefully we'll get to swim a few more times at least before Summer is over!  Thanks Grandma for the fun pool to play in!

All Done...

We are in the process of switching Kyler from breastfeeding to bottle-feeding this past week.

For some reason, my body just doesn't produce enough milk for him anymore.  I'm having to supplement Kyler with formula at the end of every feeding these days, so I decided this week to just let him be on the bottle full-time. (well, not absolutely full-time yet because I don't want to kill myself! ha! But I am drying up quickly so it won't be long until it is full-time.)  Now, before anyone starts thinking about this too much -- how Kyler is only 3.5 months old still and it would be 'better' for him to breastfeed longer -- I understand that point.  However, you'll be interested to know that he has been MUCH happier and easy going and not nearly as "spitty" or "gassy" this past week!  It's amazing to me!  I thought that breastmilk was supposed to be "easiest" on babies' tummies and formula was harder to digest.  But for Kyler, it is just the opposite.  He is much less spitty on formula.  Not nearly as gassy. He has more bowel movements now.  And he is just happier overall.  I'm so glad!  And it just proves that every baby is different.

The funny thing about this situation is, however, that the EXACT thing happened with Kamryn at the EXACT same time!  Maybe it really is just my body and not necessarily a growth spurt?! I don't know.  But I remember it was just before 4 months because we were in Hawaii when Kamryn turned 4 months old and I was devestated that I was going to have to stop breastfeeding--but my mom and Grandma were there and reassured me that everything would be alright.  And sure enough, it was!

The other funny thing with this situation is that I have a couple of Soy Formula that we never used with Kamryn (and still are not expired yet) but Kyler doesn't like the Soy!  It's kinda weird.  Again--thought Soy was supposed to be easier on tummies than regular because of the lack in lactose--which is why we used it for Kamryn.  She couldn't keep down regular formula.  But Kyler is just the opposite.  He really doesn't like the Soy and would rather have regular.  SO I have 2 full cans (plus another half) of Soy formula that I don't need...AND I now need to find room in our budget for regular formula.  Babies make everything a little more complicated!  :)  But more fun as well.

Anyone happen to need Soy formula and want to buy it off me?! :)

I have to say that I am somewhat excited to be finished breastfeeding already.  It will just make my life that much easier and less stressful.  Not that I don't love breastfeeding my babies. I really do.  And I'm grateful I can do it for a little while.  But it is awfully hard on my body (back and ribs that already have trouble) and obviously my kids have been doing just fine without it.  I'm glad I have been able to do it for at least the first few months before they can start trying solids and everything else.
