Blessing Day

Yesterday our little girl was blessed in our church.
It was a wonderful experience!

Kamryn wore my sister Kylie's blessing dress (which was made by "aunt" Robin). It looked really pretty still after 17 years! :) The blessing was at 8:30 in the morning in Orem, UT.

So many friends and family came! We are so blessed to have so much support around (and afar...we were sad for the rest of you who couldn't make it!) There were 3 babies blessed in our ward yesterday and ours was definitely the biggest circle. I don't say that to be boastful at all but to just recognize that we really are lucky to have a lot of both of our families living in the valley. I think there were 13 men in the circle. Ryan, My dad, Ryan's dad, my brother Eric, Uncle Kevin, Uncle Jerry, Uncle Craig, "Uncle" Jeff, Cousin Matt, Cousin Chris, Cousin Daniel, Scott Perkins, Jonathan Prasad and our Bishop. So fourteen! Wow! What a wonderful blessing it is to know and be loved by so many who are worthy to hold the priesthood.

Just wanted to share some pictures and let you all who weren't able to come, enjoy the day with us as well! I am so grateful for my little new family! It is so fun to have all of these new experiences!

Great Grandma and Papa's

Kamryn went on her first vacation this last weekend--we were able to drive up to my dad's parents house in Coeur d'Alene, ID and visit with them. It was a quick trip (one day driving up, 4 days there and one day driving back). But it was very fun. Kamryn is a great traveler! :) Sleeping the whole way there and the whole way back! :)

Grandma and Papa just adored her and pampered us all weekend. Kamryn picked her first raspberries and had her first birthday cake! :)

We were up there for her one month mark, so Grandma made a cake for her! :) So cute!

We also took our first "official" family picture up there--not downloaded yet but I'll post them soon! :)

One Month Old!

Yesterday was the 24th of August and Kamryn's one month "birthday"! :)

We spent her "birthday" up in Cour D'Alene Idaho with Great Grandma and Papa Moe. Some things she is doing now that she didn't do a month ago are:
Smiling more (almost every time Grandma talks to her she has smiled at her!)
Recognizes mom's voice and when mom is holding her vs. someone else (not necessarily a GOOD thing because later it'll be hard to get out of the habit...but Mom doesn't mind so much! It feels good to be loved and needed by such a sweet thing!)
Very aware of lights and movement around her--loves computer screens, windows, televisions, etc. Anything with light!
Can lay on the floor by herself for longer periods of time now (like 5 minutes at most) before screaming to move and get something else to look at.
Getting better at tummy time!
Newborn onesies are finally starting to look a little snug--not too bad yet but she'll be out of them before we know it!
She can go further between feedings. Go further between naps as well.

We are amazed at how fast a month went by! It doesn't seem like it could really be that long! We are savoring every moment with her and are so crazy about her.

Here are some pictures from Friday night (so almost a month old)... I'll post more from yesterday as soon as I actually get them uploaded onto the computer! :)

Super Dad!

Ryan had his hands full this past weekend. We went up to my parents and his parents houses last Friday night to visit and while we were there I suddenly got the chills and ended up with a fever. I was sick to my stomach and had migrane-like headaches and a fever. Needless to say I didn't sleep well that night...and I was very very paranoid about how close I was to Kamryn because I didn't want her to get whatever I had. I knew that it could potentially be infection from giving birth 3 weeks ago, but there was still the possibility that it could be a virus and that scared me. So, Ryan took care of me--shivering in bed, crying because I didn't know what else to do-- and took care of Kamryn when she got up in the middle of the night. I had luckily been able to pump a bottle of milk the day before so he fed her Friday night so I wouldn't have to be near her when I had a fever of 102.6. It was a long night, but we survived.

Saturday morning we called the on-call doctor and he said maybe I should go get looked at at an instacare. I was so miserable so we went. And sure enough they found out I had a breast infection (like many women get who are breastfeeding) and he prescribed pain killers and antibiotics. By that night I felt MUCH better! And I was very relieved that Kamryn wasn't at risk to get a fever or a virus!

Otherwise, we're doing fine here. We are trying to take full advantage of the last few weeks of summer. And we're taking pictures galore of our little one. Here's some of the latest!

Looking cute! (Very good at holding her pacifier in AND flipping it out with her hands!!)

Tummy Time

Last post today...promise! :)

Another big thing that is new in our lives now is Kamryn's tummy time every day. From day one she has had great neck and leg strength...always pushing and kicking and lifting her head up to see things! Now we're helping her build arm and neck and tummy strength! She is okay for about a minute but then screams and screams for 3 or 4. Then finally she'll relax again and put her head down and just lay there for a little bit. Then she'll scream and scream again! It's kinda cute (and funny) how much she wears herself out! :) But she is getting stronger!

(I have a video but can't upload it right now for some reason...I'll try again later!)

Our Baby Girl

Kamryn is doing well. 19 days old! Can't believe it! She is getting bigger and bigger by the day. At her 2 week check up she was 7 lbs 14.5 oz and 20 and 2/3 in long. I bet she's about 8 lbs. already. She is getting those fun baby rolls in her arms and legs now. And she even has baby acne starting to show now. She used to HATE having her diaper changed but now we are getting better at not screaming every time! :) She also used to scream in the bath but now just sits and enjoys it. We're still doing it in the sink because she still fits and she likes the water running on her legs.

As the days go by, I'm finding the parts of her that remind me of me and parts of her that remind me of Ryan. Kamryn definitely has Ryan's flat feet, his ears, his eyes and eyebrows, and I think that she MAY have a dimple on her right cheek which is DEFINITELY from Ryan! (It's very slight right now and we only see it when she smiles big...so we're still not sure but we'll see!) She has my brittle/soft nails and hangnails (darn it!). She also is my little girl when it comes to sleeping positions. She doesn't care for sleeping on her back much (which because of SIDS is how she HAS to sleep at night unfortunately) so we'll try to rock her to sleep and then gently put her on her back for the night. She also has to have her hands up by her face and likes to snuggle up in a ball and up close to someone or something. That is definitely from me!

I love being a mom! It feels like I've been doing this forever (in a good way) (even though it's only been 20 days) but at the same time there are new adventures and challenges every day and I love it! I don't think I have quite grasped the concept that I actually have a child that is my very own--but every once in a while I catch glimpses of the fact that she really is mine. That each day needs to be savored and remembered because she will grow up and never be at this stage of life again. Then I am filled with gratitude for her and thank my Heavenly Father for sending her to us! I am excited to watch her grow up through the years and I'm excited to raise her---but nothing ever will be like these first few months again.

Ryan's Design Blog

A big new thing in our home right now is Ryan's newfound love for blogging! All Summer long he has been playing around with photoshop---photo editing and creating other things. He has been having fun finding tutorials online and then creating pretty cool designs for business cards, greeting cards, and other things. THEN recently he has found a place (a blog) to post them all for people to see and for him to have a fun way to look at them. So, go to http://rsdesignguru.blogspot.com/ and check out stuff he has done!
